3D viewing firm and Google hook up to offer revolutionary new way to look around a property.

Is this the end of physical property viewings? A revolution in the way homes for sale or rent can be viewed online has begun after 3D property viewings firm Matterport announced a partnership with Google.

This will enable the publication of Matterport content to Google Street View, allowing anyone with a Matterport Spaces account to publish directly to Google Street View through its Street View Publish API.

The 3D scans captured through the Matterport technology will be accessible almost instantaneously on Google Maps and in Google Search results, which will drive additional traffic to businesses’ websites, as users experience a property directly from their tour of Google Street View.

Bill Brown, CEO, said, “Matterport is excited to partner with Google to enhance the way business owners market to customers. Our all-in-one solution helps agents promote their homes and provide a preview for customers.”

Charles Armstrong, Product Manager at Google, said, “Street View is loved because it helps prospective customers ‘be there’. Matterport offers one of the most impressively realistic consumer experiences I’ve seen.”
